BIO
Ernest “Esa’MunClf” Coles was born an raised in Hampton, Virginia, a nesting ground for talented up and coming Artists making names for themselves musically. If one was to wonder what kind of music “Esa’MunClf” brings from out of the 7 City Area of VA, you no longer have to guess. Right from the beginning of the Album you can feel a sense of extreme urgency, a passionate approach to express oneself as a Artist on a Higher Plane, pushing Hip Hop into a New Envelope of Expression and Ideas. The visions painted by “Esa” on the song “It Will Be Alright”, tells us to pay more attention to our children and the domestic things that we have been witnessing in our communities, yet saying nothing about it. Every song has a message encoded in the music. The melodies and the lyrics are very clear, the beats are stimulating, and “Esa” has a sound that’s so authentic, a listener might find themselves engulfed in his lyrics throughout the whole album, enjoying themselves song after song. The guest appearances by various artists truly compliments the diversity of the music as a whole, “Esa” has the energy to make other artists bring a whole new side from out of them self. On this album “Grand Sovereignty” (freedom rules), “Esa’MunClf” has captured a classic masterpiece that should go down in the history of Hip Hop, as one of those albums that should have been in everybody’s musical catalogue. “Esa” represents a new growth and movement within Hip Hop, something you can sense throughout the entire album. Tailored made after nobody, one can hear how “Esa” will become a household name in the very near future. “Esa” was mostly inspired by the forms of Hip Hop from the early 90’s when conscious rhyme patterns was a test of one’s wits. Unlike today, where gangster rap and watered down lyrics are all over the radio and TV, setting the mode and standard of what they think Hip Hop is suppose to sound like. “Esa” has been writing lyrics since High School. Starting out as a poet and then progressing to the level of a MC, “Esa” always stated that Hip Hop had a purpose and a meaning, and it wasn’t to be used just for making money and getting all the fame. So when one really survey’s “Esa”, the can conclude that he is a Movement, his music brings to life ideas of freedom and prosperity, struggle and passion, knowledge and determination and a desire to push the envelope of Hip Hop into a higher realm. For all the critics who been waiting for a Changing of the Guards within Hip Hop, your answers have been heard, “Esa” is that artist who will surely set the Bar High for those to come after him. Until then, “Grand Sovereignty” (freedom rules) displays the formula and structure for MC’s to use as a building block to their Lyrical Greatness.
