Iyano Iyanti

“A family with music as the family tradition” is the kind that this aspiring artiste, with a taste of destiny at his fingertips has and Iyano Iyanti is just blessed with this kind resourceful talent.

Born Deano Ira Hall at the Victoria Jubilee Children’s Hospital on the 8th of February 1983. This, within a time when the political climate of the eighties was the worst the country had seen, Deano and his family literally ran “leave the house from Cockburn Pen.” Thus, he and his family ended up at first, on the cool hills of St. Ann. From there to St. Catherine . Women has always been a strong part of his life, from grandmother to mother to aunties, Iyano has been blessed. At about fourteen years old, his mother, the only parent he had a relationship with, migrated and by virtue of this his aunties all helped to guide him into the person he is today, a positive young youth. He is the only child for his mother but one of three children that his father has. He went to the Bybrook Basic School then to Linstead All Age, where he took the Grade Nine-Achievement Exam and received entrance into McGrath High in Linstead. There he did his CXCs after which he got certified for courses in Bartending and Catering and even did seven months in Early Childhood education and also getting to teach at the basic school level.

Iyano Iyanti is a name he created for himself, meaning “the representation of the star force within,” truly deep words uttering from this 21st century young Rastafarian youth within a world gone crazy. But music is all he knows, with his grandfather who plays the drums and attended the Alpha school for Boys; aunties very vocal and having a veteran musician/producer-Dia- in the family, music then would seem inevitable. It was not until leaving high school that he began to make serious steps towards making his own music by writing his own songs (2003). “Whenever I come to town, I always try fi link Dia and work wid him” and that he has done. So far he recorded four powerful songs; and musical Guru Jah D did Iyano’s first recording called “Oh Gosh, Oh Gosh”
